今まで何回も倉橋に遊びに来てくださった元オリンピック選手、竹澤健介が大阪経済大学生徒たち33人と倉橋に合宿に来ました。

生徒たち１２時ぐらいに倉橋について

Cafe Alpha-Seasideに移動！

生徒たちは荷物を部屋においてすぐ着替えてランの準備！

Seasideまで４キロ走ってSugawaでturnaroundをして2回しました。

ラン終わってからKatsuragahamaでcooldown!

夜はビーチでCampFireをして次の日のために早めにsleep!

朝６時からまたラン！

２日目のラン終わってから倉橋学園のrunning教室に移動！

大阪経済大学生徒たち、４日間だけでしたが、倉橋の人たちはいっぱい元気をもらえました。ありがとうございました。
生徒たちが綺麗な走り方で皆んな住民の人に元気な挨拶したり、学校のイベントもやってくださり、さらにビーチ掃除までしてくれて本当にこの島を合宿で選んでくれてとても感謝です。倉橋の人たちは大阪経済大学陸上部のファンになりました。これからのご活躍を応援してます！

English Summary:

This past weekend, Osaka Economics University came to Kurahashi Island, Hiroshima for their training camp!

Thanks to previous Olympic Athlete Kensuke Takezawa, he became to like Kurahashi and decided to bring his 33 students here for their training camp.

His students arrived here in Kurahashi and checked into Seaside Hotel along the beautiful Katsurgahama beach overlooking the ocean.

Once arriving, they unloaded their luggage and quickly changed into their running gear. After huddling up for a quick meeting, they all began running along Kurahashi’s beautiful coastline. It was surprising how serious all the runners became once they got into their running gear. Even being young college kids, it was impressive their focus and intent on their training.

After their first day of training, they all jumped into the sea and cooled down while SUPing and Kayaking! That night we had a bon-fire and the kids went to bed early before their next day of training.

The following day training began before 6AM and they we back to their serious training.

It was so cool seeing the students running around Kurahashi and saying friendly greetings to all the local residents that they pasted by. It was also comical seeing Kurahashi people’s reaction to the group of 30+ students running around the island.

Their second day on the island, after their morning run, Osaka Economics University athletes made their way over to the elementary/junior high school for a running clinic hosted by the athletes. They ran around Katsurgahama beach with the junior high school kids and the elementary school students played tag and other running games at the school ground.

After that their was a handicap running event which 2 of the fastest athletes from Osaka raced the fasted students in Kurahashi. It was funny to watch how quickly the college athletes caught up to the kids! Everyone was laughing and enjoyed the entertainment!

Then Coach Kensuke Takezawa gave a presentation about himself and it was interesting to know that he was a swimmer before becoming a runner. The elementary and junior high school students seem to enjoy hearing an olympic athlete speak and receiving motivation from him. Some of the take-away advice was to work slowly on projects and that will amount to something substantial!

Kurahashi Island, Hiroshima is a perfect spot for training because their is beautiful views of the inland sea, not many cars are on the road, access to mountain trails, can play in the ocean and enjoy the hotspring after! Not to mention the delicious local foods!

The students stayed 3 days at the Seaside Hotel before coming to Marine Club Carp Boat for their last play day. The athletes enjoyed SUPing/Kayaking again, karaoke, BBQ, fireworks, and many different activities. It was so fun spending time with them and seeing their play side.

On the last day, the students packed up and left CARP BOAT to go to Kurahashi Hotspring one more time before back to Osaka. Before leaving, all of the students including Takezawa coach, cleaned the beach. It was very impressive to see the class of the students and how much service they did for the island.

Kurahashi people are very grateful to have received energy of the athletes from Osaka Economics University. Thank you for always greeting the local residents as you all gallantly ran by, thanks for having such a positive impact for the students in Kurahashi and finally thank you for cleaning our beach. It was a real honor to have all the students here in Kurahashi and thanks for choosing this island for your training camp!
